It took one year to write it. It explores uploading from a 'dog catches car' view. If that were possible, what then? The book explores how humans interact with the technology. There is a corporation that has a monopoly on it; there is a ready market of people literally dying to use it and willing to pay handsomely to do so. Mix those factors together, and that is the gist of Mind the Machines.
It's firmly in the dystopian science fiction genre, if that is your bag.
